Hand-made books, book illustration, book art, zines etc. We are seeking art that uses the book as content and/or medium to explore and transform our idea of what a book can be. Show location: Somerville Public Library, 79 Highland Avenue. Submission deadline: extended to April 17, 2024.

The SOS 2024 First Look Exhibit will be take place at the Somerville Museum from April 11 to May 11. Opening reception Sunday, April 14 from 3-6 pm. This year we celebrate Community with a small works show at Neighborhood Produce in Ball Square. Work will be seen through the corner window at the intersection of Broadway and Boston Ave. Your interpretation of “community” may be literal or symbolic, representational or abstract, painted, drawn, sculpted, photographic or multi-media. Submissions should not exceed 12” x 12” x 12” since the space is small. Submission deadline: April 1, 2024.
People who have volunteered for SOS over the past two years are invited to submit work to the SOS 2024 Volunteer Small Works Show. The show will be displayed at Forge Bakery, 626 Somerville Avenue. Submission deadline: April 2.

Locavore shows are returning to SOS in 2023! This year’s theme is Good Enough to Eat!
The focus of this Locavore show, to be held at Neighborhood Produce, 691 Broadway in Ball Square, is on groceries and provision of food. This includes portrayal of the food itself, as well as food insecurity, sourcing food, shopping or providing food. Submissions may be literal or symbolic, representational or abstract, painted, drawn, sculpted, photographic or multi-media. The show will be on display from April 29 to May 14, 2023.
