Somerville Open Studios is a citywide art event the first weekend in May, where hundreds of artists open their studios and invite the public in to see their art. Somerville Open Studios 2020 will take place on May 1-3, 2020.

Beyond the Pattern is a live wearable art and fashion show on April 30th At the Somerville Armory
Play wear, work wear, evening wear, street fashion, clothing for special occasions, safety gear, hats, bags, umbrellas, large-scale jewelry, masks, costumes, cosplay, recycled and unconventional materials, concept pieces, puppets, marching band instruments, hair styling, body art – if it can be presented on the runway with a walk, roll, strut, or dance, bring it to the show!

2020 Somerville Open Studios Theme: Vision 2020
The SOS Event Committee is seeking work to be used for the Map Guide cover, poster, postcard, museum banner and social media applications. It must evoke our 2020 theme of Vision 2020. There will be a single stipend of $500 if submitted artwork is selected for use.
Art must represent the theme - it can be an existing piece or one created especially for this call.
Art must fit the parameters of the Map Guide with the understanding there will be text placement and trimming. Please see past Map Guides or email us for reference on dimensions for trim areas.
We will give preference to Somerville artists but others may apply.
Your art can have words but please understand we will have to add more.
Submission Deadline February 15, 2020. You can submit up to three images/sketches. If you are submitting a sketch and are chosen - final art must be delivered by March 1, 2020.
All final images must be full color high resolution - 300+ dpi

Christina has degrees from both Tufts University and the Art Institute of Boston and has been a member of the SOS community since 2010. For the last five years she’s served on the SOS Board, and has often worked as the volunteer coordinator, organizing members and matching volunteers to jobs. We know that this experience will serve her well as she, and her executive staff, keep all the event committees on track to make SOS 2020 the best open studios ever!
