At our next SOS Last Wednesdays event on March 29, Sarah Carlson will provide us with helpful tips on managing and organizing your Home Studio for SOS, and guide us on how to interact with the public in your home studio. The event will take place at 6:30 pm at Mad Oyster Studios, 2 Bradley Street. Full details here.
This year, the City of Somerville is celebrating their 175th year. To join in on the celebration, Somerville Open Studios has decided to celebrate our history of amazing volunteers by inviting ALL volunteers both past and present to participate in this year's Volunteer Show at Diesel Cafe in Davis Square. If at any point from 1999 to now you donated some of your time to SOS, we want to celebrate YOU.
To participate, please send an email to our Volunteer Show Coordinator, Gretchen Graham, at email@example.com by March 31 . Once you have indicated your interest, Gretchen will be in contact with more information about drop-off dates, size requirements, and reception information.
Behold the doughnut. Two glorious ounces of glistening goodness.
Twisted, glazed, iced, filled, topped, or naked, it has been portrayed in various mediums since its (American) invention in the late 18th century. The oozing, dripping, delectable delight is made from flour, sugar, eggs, and milk; but yours can be made from any medium that can be hung on the wall at Union Square Donuts, 20 Bow Street.
You'll find more information here on how to submit donut-themed art for this show. Any participating SOS 2017 artist or volunteer may submit work. Deadline for submissions is Friday, March 31.
After a one-year hiatus, SOS is bringing back Beyond the Pattern, our live showcase for fashion and wearable art. We now have enough participating artists, but we're still looking for volunteers: stage manager/assistant, tech crew, ushers, makeup person, photographers, and videographers. If you can help, plesae email firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you know of a current or upcoming art exhibit in Somerville that isn't listed here, please send e-mail to email@example.com .
