Artist's Statement
I enjoy working both abstractly and from observation, often in series. During the pandemic shutdowns of 2020 I found a renewed appreciation for being outside, for both recreation and gardening. I was inspired by the vibrant and energizing colors of local gardens and landscapes to start a new print series based on various plants that caught my eye during the summer and fall ("Summer Gardens.") Other themes to which I also return include: work spaces and tools; figure studies; swimming pools; landscape real and imaginary; and abstracted thoughts about the body under medical duress.
