Artist's Statement

I think about emotions such as anxiety, worry, and fear and how they can be countered by gratitude, decisions and definition. I look at images of bondage and internment. I suffer over the hopeless and helpless.
also, I think about how the skeleton encases the heart and is wrapped in flesh.
I think about the sea and all that nautical imagery. I think about birth-death-regeneration because what else is there. Finally, It is a struggle to act effortlessly when making something.
