Artist's Statement

My latest body of work is called Echo Location. All are one-of-a-kind monoprints measuring 20" x 60". Working in an improvisational way at the interface between printmaking and painting, I use multiple wood- blocks in unorthodox ways as a transfer tool to build images in a process of controlled accident toward an unknown destination. With eyes wide open and senses tuned to the interaction of inks, I use the blocks to lay down as well as lift ink, and large rollers to build viscosity layers of transparent color.
