There's a dragon in my studio.
In the past few years I've picked up several new media. I've added wire and soldering and other light metal work, as well as sewing and soft textile work. Two things seem to stay consistent: One is that I work around the edges of representation- short of realistic depictions, and a long way from wholly abstract. The other is that I push various media in strange ways and operate in the spaces between them. I make paintings, but they hang in space and cast shadows like sculptures. I make wire sculptures, but they exist on a flat plane. I've taken up sewing recently, but mostly to experiment with sewing wire into vinyl or paper. In 2018 I also took on learning to work collaboratively, and my friends and I created a giant, rideable dragon to show for our efforts. Come meet her and see some of the other explorations I'm making. The comment I get more than any other is, "What do you call this kind of work? I've never seen anything like it."
