Artist's Statement

I'm a Somerville-based artist and have been creating works inspired by nature’s whimsy since I was a little girl. Whether it be dipped pen and ink, watercolor, or acrylics -- I love capturing the mood of landscapes and plant life in my small works that make a big impact.

My most current set of works are a meditation on open skies. My process is mainly driven by taking in the immense space in clouds (both peaceful and stormy) and sky that I see while taking local walks and hikes (Great Brook Farm, Middlesex Fells, the White Mountains, etc.). I soak up the inspiration, get a piece of sturdy artist paper, and let the dramatic, energetic strokes pour loosely out of my hands and onto the paper with acrylic paint.

The result is a meditative study that leaves you feeling you could fly in and out of a broad landscape all packed in a small space.
