Artist's Statement
Throughout my life, I have been fortunate to explore a range of artistic mediums, yet fashion design has always felt most compelling. The transformation of a flat piece of fabric into a wearable sculpture fascinates me. It is a process grounded in mathematics, physics, and design, yet driven by intuition and imagination.
I am drawn to bold prints and vibrant colors, manipulating them to create joyful and unique garments. My undergraduate studies in Fiber Science provided a foundation in the chemical and physical properties of textiles, deepening my understanding of how materials behave on and around the body. This knowledge informs every stage of my design process, allowing me to thoughtfully integrate ergonomics, comfort, color theory, and sustainability into each piece.
With so much waste in the fashion industry, sustainability is central to my practice. I prioritize working with deadstock and upcycled fabrics, embracing both their imperfections and uniqueness. Recently, I have begun collaging with the remnants left behind from garment construction, essentially painting with scraps. In doing so, I aim to extend the life cycle of materials while creating textured images.
