Artist's Statement
I am interested in the lines of the body-- how they are traced, touched, and forged by their surroundings. In drawing and sculpting with clay and charcoal, I represent the figure and also re-define its forms. In steel, I create plate armor which becomes a barrier, a line, between the skin and the environment (a boundary that I can choose to alter).
The weight with which armor rests on the body changes the shape of the flesh that it sits upon. The outline is in active conversation with the body. I look to join in.
