Artist's Statement

The High Fire Highlanders are a group of ceramic artists from the Somerville High School Class of 2025, each bringing a unique style to our collection of handmade pottery. With multiple years of experiences the ceramics program, we’ve developed our skills in wheel throwing, hand-building, and glazing to create functional pieces that are meant to be used and enjoyed.

Our work includes mugs, bowls, plates, and more—each with its own personality. As emerging artists, we are excited to share our work with the broader community through Somerville Open Studios. This event gives us a chance to share our work beyond the classroom, connect with the community, and experience what it’s like to present and sell our ceramics. Some pieces will be available for purchase, while others serve as examples of our ongoing exploration of ceramic techniques and artistic expression.
