Artist's Statement

My love for pottery started in the kitchen. Baking, cooking, and drinking tea were not only favorite activities growing up, but they were also the way I expressed love for the people in my life. The vessels that held these treasures were just as important. It wasn't until 2022 that I started learning ceramics after a chronic illness diagnosis. Ceramics, and my partner Marshall, kept me afloat. Making is central to my identity. The process of coming up with a juicy idea and building it fills my cup. Equally satisfying is seeing the end result, the cozy cup of steaming tea, the bright bowl of fruit-topped yogurt, the colorful plate piled high with noodles. I live for those little details that bring a fleeting moment of joy, a smile to your face as you go about your day.
