Artist's Statement

My art is representational and figurative, focusing on individual objects or figures with a carefully considered, classic composition.

My art studies the familiar - it studies everyday objects. I find my subject matters in my immediate surroundings and regular everyday activities. Drawing, painting, and photography are the media I use to explore, capture and represent them.

My works are true to life - depicting the subject matters in a combination of precise detail and loose rendering, highlighting particular details, leaving out others - and through this dialog, capturing their essence.

They are always carefully composed and the settings are deliberately spare, drawing the focus to the subject matter by isolating it.

The goal in all my work is to shine light on the ordinary - to remind the viewer of the beauty that can always be found in our daily lives.
