Artist's Statement

After years of thinking I must create polished art, I have continued to return over and over to my sketchbooks. They have been my travel companions across the country, and as such I have used sketching as a way to process many different kinds of experiences and engage with the people and places around me. I love the raw, loose, and experimental quality of sketchbook pages, and find I often prefer them to finished artwork. My current focus is on looking back through the story that my sketchbooks tell about my journey, and sharing these personal moments outside of the pages.
