Artist's Statement

My mom is an incredible artist - she created a puppet theater complete with sewn curtains and papier pache puppets when we were kids. She inspired me to live a life of art and creativity. Once, when we were little, she took us to a local library that had an incredible Alice in Wonderland display. You could look through a window of the box and see the entire Alice in Wonderland world unfolding past the tiny glass. That definitely inspired my love of miniatures!

Last year, I got back from a trip to 3 amazing Denver museums (MEOW WOLF, the American Museum of Western Art, and Spectra Art Space) and was fantasizing about what kind of museum I'd want to commission if I had the chance one day. I liked the idea of something Boston-specific, and then I thought hey, what if I actually made this thing? I found a piece of wood on the side of the road and bought a storage box to glue on top of it, and the rest just naturally unfolded over the year. I hope this little piece inspires you to create something from your artistic dreams!
