Artist's Statement

What is gayer than a fruit? Nothing, I say!

I aim for my art to be a celebration of the beauty in the plants and flowers around us. Through this process, my love for all queer people blooms, including my love for myself.

I love flowers so much that I worked in plant biology research for a decade and admired their little bodies every day. While unfortunately academia was not for me, I have begun healing from my PhD trauma through rediscovering my joyful love of plants. I am inspired by my loved ones’ favorite fruits and flowers and hope to capture how happy they make me by lovingly embodying each plant’s unique form in my illustrations and paintings. My mission is to paint fruits for every fruit I know.
