Abstract paper wall sculptures
I discovered modular origami in 2016 and became inspired by the incredible versatility of paper as a medium. In my work, I use hand-folded paper units both to “paint” an image and “construct” a sculptural form. On my surfaces, I also use acrylic paint, mixing my own colors to mimic the paper tones and add texture. Through the use of color gradations, asymmetry, and clean lines, my abstract wall sculptures evoke feelings of calm and stillness but also embody a strong sense of rhythm and movement.
My work is rooted in personal expression but is also a response to both the architectural and natural surroundings that we find ourselves in every day. My practice includes small series and large-scale installations, which I create in my studio at Joy Street Studios in Somerville, MA.
