Artist's Statement

In my exploration of layered paper art, I am able to combine meticulous craftsmanship with bold colors to create unique three dimensional pieces. Maps and everyday objects are my preferred subject matter because I am able to transform them into captivating abstract artworks.

I created this type of art by combining my love of drawing, architecture, and color. The process begins with sketching and cutting a detailed stencil followed by thoughtful choice of color palettes. Since everything is done by hand, precision and patience are integral components of building these pieces. Each element is carefully cut out and layered onto the next to add contours, depth, and to accentuate the gradients.

Through this artistic process, my goal is to design intricate, joyful, and vibrant visuals. I want the viewer to be intrigued by the materials and construction because that is what brings these artworks to life.
