Artist's Statement

I am traveling to Mexico during the week of Somerville Open Studios in order to build homes with Habitiat for Humanity in Tlaxaca. The dates of SOS and the Habitiat build were the same and I decided to join my daughter in Mexico. The outside of my home is open and people are welcome to walk around but the inside will not be open this year. See you in 2027! Have a great SOS!

I am a found object artist, and in addition to making dioramas  and assemblages, I build both inside and outside installations at my home. Over the last several years I have built, among other things,  a large Emerald City from green glass in my backyard, Sapphire City from blue glass on my front porch, and two "doll museum" installations inside "(Dolls Fly to Venus" and "Dolls Open a Lampshop").  I collect and curate a variety of folk and outsider art, fine art from (mostly) local artists, crafts, and kitsch which I  display in my home. I also love photographs and was a professional photographer for many years.
