Artist's Statement
Most of my artwork is representational, depicting animal and human figures as well as plants. I am fascinated by the rhythm of their forms, the ways they move, and the potential for movement that is evident in them even when they are still. Careful observation of these subjects is fundamental to my work.
Making sculpture is, for me, a way of reaching outside myself and making contact with something, through both the observation of a subject and the physical engagement with materials to make an object. I want my sculptures to be true to their subjects in specificity of form, and to convey a sense of vitality, movement, and tactility that can be felt.
