Artist's Statement

Much of the inspiration for my art comes from my childhood during the mid 50’s to early 60’s growing up in New York’s Greenwich Village. I was surrounded by the bohemian culture of artists, writers, and musicians. This milieu of creativity gave me the freedom and stimulated my need to render these experiences in my art as a child, and still to this day What inspires me goes hand in hand with my choice of medium, whether it be two or three dimensional. The common thread in my art is the subject, which is of or about people. How I choose to portray them also expresses how I see the world, and how I am in it. My past is always a part of the present. My past defines many starting points of change; each one is manifested through personal and passionate memories and impressions of people and places. Therefore my art and writing continues to be an on-going resolution to experiences both beautiful and painful.
