Artist's Statement
Charles Norris is a print maker, photographer, architect and waterfront planner who lives and works in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Popham Beach, Maine. His interests in photography and watercolor painting began in design school, and interpret the built and natural environments of his work and travels. More recently, he has created woodblock prints that are inspired by his photographic compositions, and which often focus on waterfront and marine subjects. His woodcuts have been exhibited in juried shows at the Boston Printmakers Bienniel, Concord Art, the Danforth Museum, and the Maud Morgan Arts Center in Cambridge. He has also had a solo show recently the Gladstone Gallery in Manchester, MA. He has conducted woodcut workshops at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath, and at Concord Art in Concord. His prints are pulled on presses at Shepherd Maudsley in Newton.
