Artist's Statement

Born in El Salvador, Nelson has an extensive background working with immigrant and low-income communities in Somerville. After experiencing a personal loss, he sought a creative outlet and discovered stained glass art—a medium that quickly became his passion.

Inspired by his artistic mentors, including Daniel Maher, www.dmstainedglass.com and Michel L'Huillier, www.michellhuillierglass.com Nelson decided to pursue stained glass full-time in December 2021.

His dedication to the community extends beyond his earlier social work. For several years, Nelson has donated a portion of his stained glass art sales to local nonprofit organizations. Through this artistic pursuit, he continues to support the people and places that matter most to him.
