Artist's Statement

Artist Statement
In exploring space, I try to make space. I am intrigued with complex and expansive space on a flat surface.  By pouring and pushing paint, I can engage in the element of surprise and refine it, often using a bright and intense palette, or through my continued passion for black and white. My recent paintings are often inspired by the mysteries of outer space and the effects of weather upon the sea. My employment of pouring, bleeding, layering, and using a brush becomes a complex and expansive ‘inner space’ on a flat surface for me.
