  • AVATARS // futures, at Nave Gallery, 155 Powder House Blvd.
    Saturdays and Sundays, 1-5 pm, April 27 - May 18.
    Opening reception: Friday, April 26, 7-9 pm
    Artist panel discussion: Saturday, May 11, 3-5 pm

  • The Boston Medium, by Mariah Ashley Pique, at Somerville Media Center Art Gallery, 90 Union Square, through May 15.

  • Threads: Memory and Identity, by Lauren Leone, at Washington Street Gallery, 321 Washington St., Saturdays noon-4 pm, April 6-27.

  • East Somerville Windows Art Project, in the windows of 118 Broadway (former East End Grille restaurant). Local artists explore what "Carnaval" means to them. This exhibit will be on display at least through June, and possibly longer.

  • no time for laundry: the SMFA at Tufts Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition, at Tufts University Art Gallery, Aidekman Arts Center, 40 Talbot Avenue, May 1-19.
    Reception: Friday, May 17, 7-9 pm

  • The Friend Smithsonian Museum is an outdoor exhibit in the front yard of Martha Friend's house at 135 Highland Avenue, featuring a rotating set of artists. The current exhibit is Mosaics, artwork by preschoolers from the Pooh and Friends daycare center on Highland Avenue, through the end of April.
