SOS 2018 Group Exhibits
SOS First Look
At the Somerville Museum
(Formerly called the Artists' Choice Show)
All Somerville Open Studios 2018 member artists are invited to take part in this group show at the Somerville Museum. Each year we hear extensive feedback that visitors chose which studios to go see based in part on the work in this show. The opening reception provides a great opportunity to meet other artists and see each other's work. It's one of our largest social events of the year.

Hosted by our friends at Diesel Cafe in Davis Square
This year's Somerville Open Studios will be our 20th. To join in on the celebration, SOS has decided to celebrate our history of amazing volunteers by inviting ALL volunteers both past and present to participate in this year's Volunteer Show at the Diesel Cafe. If at any point from 1999 to now you donated some of your time to SOS, we want to celebrate YOU. You do not have to be a current volunteer or resident of Somerville to participate, you just need to have been a volunteer.
This year, each volunteer may exhibit two works of art in this show.
The Volunteer Show will be at the Diesel Cafe, 257 Elm Street in Davis Square, from April 14 - May 11.
To participate, please send an email to our Volunteer Show Coordinators, Alison Pruchansky and Ellie Laramee-Byers, at email@example.com by March 31. Once you have indicated your interest, they will be in contact with more information about drop-off dates, size requirements, and reception information.

Cracked: The Nut Show
New for SOS 2018
How do you like your nuts? Salty, smoky, savory, or sweet? Perhaps fiery hot? Roasted or raw? Do you savor them solo or munch them mixed? Are they a healthy snack, a bygone airplane freebie, the state of our nation? Maybe you've just always loved the intricate shadows and curves in the flesh of a walnut. Render it for SOS's curated show at Q's Nuts.
We are accepting submissions of nut-related works of art in any medium or style. Your interpretation may be literal or symbolic, representational or abstract; painted, drawn, sculpted, photographic, or all mixed up. Pieces will be chosen based on how they reflect the theme, with consideration for diversity of media. Size is not being restricted, but window space is limited, so we suggest you visit Q's Nuts at 349 Highland Avenue to assess fit - and, of course, for some nutty inspiration.
Submissions are due by midnight on April 6. Work will be curated by Nancy Anderson and Johanna Finnegan-Topitzer, and exhibited from April 20 - May 15. Drop-off and pick-up of work chosen will be in conjunction with the First Look show, at the Somerville Museum.
Please submit images in .jpg format to firstname.lastname@example.org by April 6, and include
as well as any special instructions or display requirements. Submissions are free and open to all artists participating in Somerville Open Studios 2018.
Exhibit on view: April 20 - May 15, 2018
in the Davis Square CVS window
This year's Inside-OUT display will be a retrospective of 20 years of SOS. We will not be issuing a call for artists to submit work for Inside-OUT this year.
Exhibit on view: mid-March through mid-May, 2018
