A 2002 Somerville Arts Council Artist Fellowship winner, I have maintained a studio in Somerville since 1995, participating in solo and group shows in and around the Boston area and internationally.
My work is connected to a tradition of perceptual painting based on close observation of the world around us. Landscape and still-life offer a point of departure. While my work is grounded in representation, description is never an objective. One of the most exciting things that I find happens in the act of painting is when the painting takes on its own reality and begins to suggest places either observed or imagined in the mind of the viewer.
