The best way to learn more about volunteering and what goes on behind the scenes to produce SOS is to attend an SOS meeting.

Be an SOS Volunteer!
Each year a volunteer event committee is formed to prepare for the event over an eight month planning period. Only through the effort of these dedicated supporters, artist and non-artist alike, can Open Studios happen each year. As we near the event we are in need of people to assist our Lead Volunteers in the final weeks leading up to the event and non-artist volunteers to help with important tasks during the event itself. Be brave! You won’t be alone: this is a shared effort.
Remember, this event is run entirely by volunteers from the Somerville artist community. If they can manage a part of the event, you can too.
We need YOUR HELP with
Map book distribution
Starting 1-2 weeks before the event and continuing through the event weekend, fill map book stands around town and drop off mapbooks in the neighboring towns. Email maps@somervilleopenstudios.org if you know you'd like to help with this.
Light Construction
Work on cleaning and repairing map book & trolley stands.
Trolleys
Help make sure the trolley signs are put out in the morning & taken in at night during the event, or ride the trolley in the morning to make sure the operators have the route down!

There are many smaller tasks that need doing. As we get closer to the event, we need people who can donate even a few hours in the following areas:
