SOS 2017 Group Exhibits
This page describes SOS 2017. We expect to produce similar events and exhibits for 2018. Check back here later in the spring for more information.
For 2017, our Somerville Museum show will have a new name: SOS First Look.
SOS First Look
At the Somerville Museum
(Formerly called the Artists' Choice Show)
All Somerville Open Studios 2017 member artists are invited to take part in this group show at the Somerville Museum. Each year we hear extensive feedback that visitors chose which studios to go see based in part on the work in this show. The opening reception provides a great opportunity to meet other artists and see each other's work. It's one of our largest social events of the year.

Hosted by our friends at Diesel Cafe in Davis Square
This year, the City of Somerville is celebrating their 175th year. To join in on the celebration, Somerville Open Studios has decided to celebrate our history of amazing volunteers by inviting ALL volunteers both past and present to participate in this year's Volunteer Show at the Diesel Cafe. If at any point from 1999 to now you donated some of your time to SOS, we want to celebrate YOU. You do not have to be a current volunteer or resident of Somerville to participate, you just need to have been a volunteer.
This year, each volunteer may exhibit two works of art in this show.
The Volunteer Show will be at the Diesel Cafe, 257 Elm Street in Davis Square, from April 10 - May 12.
To participate, please send an email to our Volunteer Show Coordinator, Gretchen Graham, at firstname.lastname@example.org by March 31. Once you have indicated your interest, Gretchen will be in contact with more information about drop-off dates, size requirements, and reception information.

SOS Donut Art Show
New for SOS 2017
Behold the doughnut. Two glorious ounces of glistening goodness.
Twisted, glazed, iced, filled, topped, or naked, it has been portrayed in various mediums since its (American) invention in the late 18th century. The oozing, dripping, delectable delight is made from flour, sugar, eggs, and milk; but yours can be made from any medium that can be hung on the wall at Union Square Donuts, 20 Bow Street.
What does the donut evoke for you? Your interpretation may be representational or abstract; painted, drawn, sculpted, or photographed. Size is not being restricted, but wall space is limited, and we suggest you visit Union Square Donuts to assess fit - and, of course, for inspiration.
Please submit images in .jpg format to email@example.com by March 31, and include
as well as any special instructions or display requirements. Submissions are free and open to all artists and volunteers participating in Somerville Open Studios 2017.
Exhibit on view: April 15 - May 13, 2017
