Through life-sized, photo-based installations, digital images and most recently with oil paintings, my art practice exposes a quest for personal and cultural identity in contemporary American society.

The “Pretty Jew, Dirty Jew” series of oil paintings on linen, are as much about an intense, and somewhat destructive attraction to beauty as they are about religion and stereotyping. The subject of and imagery in this series, raise the paradox of whether the paintings are just beautiful enough to exhibit publicly and display in the home, or, if they are too strongly controversial for our politically correct culture.

Examining popular belief and personalizing it, drives my creative process. Connecting deeply with the art-viewing audience to provoke thought and inspire questioning, srongly motivates my imagery.

Stop by at Open Studios and share your response to my Pretty Jew and Dirty Jew paintings. There are almost 40 of them now.
