Somerville Open Studios

In April, SOS Means "See Our Shows"

Our main event is in May, but we've got plenty of art to show you in April.

At Bloc 11 Cafe in Union Square, our SOS Volunteer Show features art by the many volunteers who are making SOS happen this year. The show will be on display through May 20.

In Davis Square, the Inside-OUT Gallery displays works by 14 artists who are participating in SOS for the very first time this year. You can visit this gallery at any time of the day or night, since it is located in the windows of the Davis Square CVS. The SOS exhibit will be showing there through May 4. We'll have a Sidewalk Reception outside the windows on Monday, April 27, 5:30-7 pm. (Rain date: Tuesday, April 28)

Our biggest group show is the Artists' Choice Exhibit at the Somerville Museum. We've invited every SOS member artist to submit one work of art to this exhibit. It's a good place to survey the breadth and variety of art that SOS has to offer, and to plan which studios you want to visit in May.

During SOS weekend, it will be open Thursday 2-7 pm, Friday 2-9 pm, Saturday and Sunday 11 am to 6 pm. The show runs through May 8.

Our Kids' Art Show at the Armory Cafe presents work by the littlest of Somerville's future artists. It will be on display through May 8.

Finally, SOS will present its Art in Fashion show, Beyond the Pattern, at the Armory for one night only, Thursday, April 30. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the show gets underway at 7:30.

Volunteer with SOS!

SOS is run by a wonderful group of volunteers, all artists and art-lovers just like you. Help to keep SOS the great experience it's been for sixteen years.

Want to ride a trolley and point out local landmarks? Prepare a museum exhibit? Help run a fashion show? Find out how you can join the crew! Don't forget: volunteers will meet other artists and wonderful people. Especially at the volunteer thank-you party after the event.
